Nick Irwin and the TIGI Creatives team created designer static for the Marios Schwab Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
The show: Marios Schwab Spring/Summer 2015
The hair team: Nick Irwin and the TIGI Creatives team
The look: Minimalistic, fresh and youthufl; natural hair texture punctuated by a strict centre parting.
The inspiration: "We wanted to portray an almost child like youthfulness to the hair; soft, freshly washed hair was accented with a delicate halo of flyaways, as though created by static from a school jumper on virgin hair," said Nick. "This was a ‘designer’ kind of static, which we created using a balloon! Preparation was key when achieving this look, we wanted the hair colour and texture to appear natural, almost sun lit, and so we used the Catwalk by TIGI Fashionista Colour Collection to bring out the models natural highlights and tones. The dressing of the hair was minimalistic."
The key product: Catwalk by TIGI Work It Hairspray
Get the Look
1. Wash and condition hair using Catwalk by TIGI Fashionista Violet/Brunette shampoo and conditioner to emphasise the hair's natural tones and highlights whilst adding vibrant shine. Roughly blow-dry to keep the hair's natural texture.
2. Create a precise centre parting using a fine-tooth comb.
3. If there is any volume at the crown, lightly spray the hair with Catwalk by TIGI Work It Hairspray and smooth out using irons to create a sleek silhouette.
4. Section the hair into three parts – front, nape and crown. Loosely pull back the front section of the hair over the ears and off the shoulders towards the nape of the neck in a low-slung pony. Fasten using an elastic band.
5. Release the crown section so it falls over the pony to create a uniform tapered shape to the hair, which is visible from the back.
6. Gently curl the ends of the hair using a barrel curler to define the natural wave of the hair and add movement.
7. To complete the look, tease out strands of baby hair from the hairline around the face and add static using a balloon. This gives the finished look a slightly disheveled feel.
