Thomas Osborn and the TIGI creative team created ladylike Luke Skywalker braids for the Mara Hoffman Autumn/Winter 2015 show at New York Fashion Week.
The show: Mara Hoffman Autumn/Winter 2015
The hair team: Thomas Osborn for TIGI
The look: Halo braids forming into one thick braid down the back.
The inspiration: "As Mara's collection embraced other-world landscapes and the spirit that never breaks, we wanted to create a modern and wearable Lady Luke Skywalker look," says Thomas. "We designed intergalactic warrior tresses to complement the jedi-inspired collection and also translate off the runway."
The key product: Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection
Get the Look
1. Prep the hair by spritzing Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Salt Spray all over.
2. Create a clean, centre part from hairline to nape, securing the hair in two low, temporary ponytails.
3. Use a paddle brush and a spray of Session Series Work It Hairspray to smooth hair and set the severity of the part.
4. Using pins, secure one extra-long, pre-made braid (using extensions) just behind the ear and cross over the crown. Repeat with a second pre-made braid in the opposite direction, crossing over the other braid to make an X on top of the head.
5. Next, remove the elastics from the two ponytails and begin braiding the ends of the braids into each pony, using a three-strand technique and incorporating wefts of hair into the braid as you go to add length.
6. Secure each side with an elastic, leaving a significant amount of unbraided hair below the elastic.
7. Secure the two braids together, taking care to hide the pins and create the illusion of intertwined braids.
8. Use fingers to pull on pieces of the braid to create an undone texture and set the look with Session Series Work It Hairspray – this fine mist provides a moveable and
workable hold.
