Many shades of grey at saco salon seminar Many Shades of Grey at Saco Salon Seminar - image The Saco Salon seminar saw their creative team present a showcase of all aspects of hairdressing to a spellbound audience of hairdressers from across the globe. As well as showcasing their new Decoys collection, which comprises Decoded, a collection of strong structured looks, and Spirit, softer salon-friendly hairstyles, the team delivered a short master-class in editorial creativity . Hosted by creative director Richard Ashforth, the seminar began with a colour presentation of the contrasting tones and patterns that feature in Decoded and Spirit. Decoded is inspired by the deconstruction process of the late 80s and 90s. Shapes are re-invented through internal asymmetry to create off-kilter, slightly distorted looks. These were complemented by colours that had been literally deconstructed by having panels removed and replaced with contrasting colours. But this was not about statement colours that popped, but instead replacement colours that used the same depth to create a subtle tonal look. In stark contrast was Spirit which featured a spectrum of greys. Working with tones from a high shine metallic finish to flatter ash and bluey-greys, the hairstyles featured lighter shades of grey accented with darker perimeters to create statement looks. Completing the educational presentation Andrea Martinelli and Pierre Saint Sever gave an insight into some of their creative and editorial work at Fashion Week and working with designers. The pair gave an insight into how creative hairdressing really can be by showcasing a wig made of tooth-picks and a soft crimp-like texture created using a kitchen utensil, making the international audience appreciate the possibilities are endless for hairdressers who dare to imagine.
