Mane Hook-Up has officially launched its brand-new event series with a sold-out gathering at The Hearth, Queen’s Park. Created to help textured hair stylists build sustainable and exceptional businesses, the series opened with an afternoon that combined industry insight, holistic wellness, and community connection.
Over 30 stylists, beauty professionals, and hair enthusiasts attended the launch, which featured candid conversation, practical tools, and restorative sessions.
Lead Talk with Kaye Dash
The highlight of the event was an exclusive in-conversation with Kaye Dash – one of the UK’s most respected textured hair professionals. Known for her decades of expertise, education leadership, and advocacy, Dash shared powerful insights on:
- Navigating the early years of her career
- Setting boundaries and charging your worth
- Transitioning from stylist to entrepreneur
- Building longevity in the hair industry
The session struck a chord with attendees, many of whom stayed to continue the dialogue. “This talk gave me the clarity and confidence I’ve been needing,” said one stylist. “Kaye was so honest - it felt like she was speaking directly to me.”
The afternoon also included a grounding wellness session led by Rochelle Newman, founder of New Shell. Focusing on scalp health practices, the session offered stylists practical guidance alongside a rare opportunity for stillness and reflection.
Each guest received curated haircare gifts from Camille Rose, reinforcing the event’s focus on quality, care, and professional support. The event was also made possible by The April Parker Foundation, whose mission to nurture creativity, entrepreneurship, and wellness aligns with Mane Hook-Up’s commitment to helping stylists thrive.
This launch marks the beginning of an exciting series. Future Mane Hook-Up events will include expert panels, skill-building clinics, and in-depth conversations with leaders shaping the textured hair industry.
Founder Jade Buffong shared: “We want to help stylists move from survival to strategy – to build businesses that are joyful, financially strong, and rooted in community. This is about legacy.”
