Make sure these dates are in your diary for 2018 Make your new year’s resolution to raise your industry profile this year. Follow our calendar of when to enter 2018’s awards so you don’t miss out.

January

L’Oréal Colour Trophy

When: UK Grand Final – 4 June. Who can enter: Entrants don’t need to be a L’Oréal Professionnel salon to enter, but do need to use L’Oréal Professionnel colour. How to enter: Separated into various categories, L’Oréal Colour Trophy opens for entries on 8 January and closes 26 February. For more details and to enter online visit lorealcolourtrophy.com. The prize: An exclusive three-day European trip where the winning hair stylist will have their winning look photographed. Revlon Professional Style Masters Awards

When: Global Final – 4 June in Barcelona. Who can enter: Anyone, as long as Revlon Style Masters products are used. How to enter: Entries are open now. Submit three looks to showcase technique, style, creativity and overall harmony. The Style Masters philosophy is based on the “one cut, three looks” concept. This year, Revlon Professional is also incorporating colour into their philosophy. Register at stylemasters.com/contest/en/register before 28 February. The prize: There are three categories with separate prizes – €10,000 for Global Style Masters Award, €5,000 for the Best Stage Performance and €5,000 for the Most Beautiful Colour Award. The FHA UK Freelance Awards

When: Sunday 10 June at Hellidon Lakes Hotel Northampton Who can enter: Open to every self-employed hairdresser in the UK. How to enter: No expensive photo shoots required. Images are judged on content so simply snap and send. Closing date is 31 March. Go to thefha.org.uk and fill in the entry form. The prize: Previous winners of the FHA UK Freelance Awards now work with top manufacturing companies as ambassadors, demonstrating equipment and the win often leads to stage work. Goldwell Color Zoom

When: Live contest at the Global Zoom event in Toronto on 30 September. Who can enter: All Goldwell salons can enter into the three categories – New Talent, Creative and Partner. How to enter: Check out the current Elemental collection interpret the trend, choose a model and styling for your photo shoot and send back the entry form. The prize: As a global winner, you’ll become part of the next Color Zoom Creative Team and will create the next Color Zoom Collection. Wella Professional TrendVision Award

When: The TrendVision Award Grand Final is 8 October. Who can enter: Any Wella Professionals salon can enter. How to enter: Start creating your entry and contact your sales representative for more details. In February, there will be limited spaces for entrants to shoot their entries at one of the Wella’s Studios. Remember to load your images online before the 26 March deadline. Details for Wella Professional International TrendVision Awards coming soon. The prize: Finalists will receive a once in a lifetime opportunity to be mentored by Wella’s ambassadors, including Darren Ambrose, Cos Sakkas and Robert Eaton. HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards

When: September 2018 (exact date TBC). Who can enter: Any UK salon or qualified hairdresser. If you’re a great manager, innovative technology company, great marketer or stand out junior, HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards could be your next step. How to enter: Entries can be made via the entry form but specific requirements for each category may vary. Entries open in February. HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional

When: Monday 26 November Who can enter: Qualified hairdressers who have been working in the UK for a minimum of three years. With the exception of HJ’s Newcomer of the Year, where entrants should be aged 25 years and under or have been running a regular client column for a maximum of a year. How to enter: Pick one of the 15 categories to enter and submit four photographs shot within the past 12 months. Each category has specific requirements but images must translate current trends in a creative and inspirational way. TIGI Inspirational Youth Competition

When: The boot camp is in August and the youth show is in November (exact dates TBC). Who can enter: Hairdressers aged between 19 and 26. How to enter: Compile a comprehensive written entry and create a video. Email [email protected] for more details. Competition opens Monday 16 April and closes Friday 18 May. The prize: Ten hairdressers will be chosen to be part of the TIGI Inspirational Youth Team. The prize includes a week’s mentoring via a boot camp, a show prep training day and participation in the Inspirational Youth Show. The winners also receive a kit bag of TIGI equipment. Alternative Hair Show International Visionary Award

When: The International Visionary Award is announced at the Alternative Hair Show on 14 October. Who can enter: All qualified hairdressers – there are three categories: Men’s, Cut and Colour and Avant-Garde. How to enter: Entrants can submit more than one photograph and can enter more than one category. The entry must include over 50 words on the inspiration and motivation behind each image. An entry fee of £35 per photograph is applicable and it is a direct donation to The Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation. Applications open on 6 June and must close on 19 August. What’s the prize: The opportunity to show your work at the Alternative Hair Show 2018. Find out more: Visit alterantivehair.org/visionary-award.
