Mahogany showcase their playful coquettes The Mahogany Creative team showcased their fun, flirty and playful collection, Coquette, to an enthralled audience at the Salon International Salon Seminar. Inspired by the work of designer Marchesa and their muse Marchesa Casatu Stampa di Soncino, the collection is created for women who know what they want and how to use their feminine powers to get it. The personalised looks use hidden panels of length to add erratic texture, drama and interest to head-hugging shapes. Colin Greany, international creative director, explained: "The shapes are tight and fitted, but the finished looks aren't aggressive looking. There is a feminine feel even though they are quite short." That femininity was created by point-cutting into the looks when they were dry to give it fluidity and suitability for the model or ultimately your client. Cuts were complemented by stunning colour work, which featured blondes accented by damson, rose quartz and jade; coppers complemented by magenta and pastel pink, and medleys of inky blacks and on-trend greys. While the looks were strong editorial styles, UK creative director Anthony Licata explained that the sectioning patterns and shapes could all be adapted for salon clients. "All the techniques used could be paired down to use in the salon. The balance between being commercially successful and creatively successful can be a challenging one to find. "We believe it is that creativity that creates our point of difference that attracts our clients."
