Mahogany's rising stars presented the last inspirational ClubStar evening of 2012, hosting a show at the Schwarzkopf ASK Academy in London.
A team comprising Paul Jamieson, Oliver Prestage, Poppy Wallis and Jack Akers - along with compère Neil Atkinson, senior creative director of Mahogany Hairdressing - took an audience of 40 Clubstar members on a journey filled with flamboyant hair and vibrant colour.
Inspirations for the looks presented ranged from 1970s glam rock and 1930s cabaret to futuristic sci-fi shapes and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, with finished looks ranging in shade from apricot and red to lilac and burnt charcoal. Techniques demonstrated included invisible disconnection, dishevelled point cutting and versatile layering, bringing to life the colour effects.
To finish the evening, Clubstar's project leader, Anthony Licata, UK creative director of Mahogany Hairdressing, invited team member Paul Jamieson on stage to talk about the year of fantastic education which he had enjoyed.
Paul said: "You can always learn more and ClubStar has really stretched and inspired me over the last 12 months. To get regular sessions and time with the best in the industry has opened my eyes to some amazing hair work and has undoubtedly enhanced my knowledge and also my passion for hairdressing."
ClubStar, sponsored by Redken, is a youth membership scheme aimed at young and talented hairdressers aged 16 to 25 and the ClubStar Art Team is open to all ClubStar members to audition for. Members enjoy the benefits of training education as well as stage work at Salon International.
