London fashion week autumn/winter 2012: mary katrantzou

Show: Mary Katrantzou

Stylist: Anthony Turner for Wella Professionals

Inspiration: Shoreditch and Lower East Side girls - the undone updo,

The look: A fun, pom pom-inspired top knot with all the hair off the face - elegant but not too prim or ballerina-looking, just as though the girl has thrown it up herself.

Get the look: Hair was prepped with mousse and blow-dried with the hair directed forward to the top of the head.

Hair was then secured in a ponytail at the very top of the head and teased with a Mason Pearson brush. Hair was then quickly shaped into a knot and pinned in place without too much thought or consideration.

Models with finer hair had extensions clipped into the ponytail before brushing into shape.

Each bun looked different and individual to the model, with only the position - right on top of the head the same.

Key products: Wella Professionals Shape Control Mousse and Stay Essential Hairspray and a Mason Pearson brush.

The gossip: Anna Wintour took pride of place on the front row looking unusually happy - and impossibly groomed - for 9am on a Monday morning.
