The shows may be showcasing Spring/Summer 2014 collections but, this being London, that doesn't mean endless beachy waves and summery ponytails.
In fact, with the weather at London Fashion Week being decidedly inclement this season, it seems as though next summer's take on wet-look hair is more British downpour than tropical poolside glamour.
We've seen a few slicked-back styles that suggest emerging from a crystal-blue sea, combing hair back, and reclining while looking fabulous on a sun lounger, but we've also seen a host of fuzzy waves and knotted ponytails, inspired by a slightly less preened girl; one who's been caught in the rain and had to make the best of it.
At Palmer Harding (above) the hair by Stephen Low for L'Oreal Professionnel was all about an elegant response to being outdoors in the rain, while at
Teatum Jones Lok Lau for Bumble and bumble the look was rained-on waves.
The inspirations at
Preen and
Alexis Barrell may have been more exotic (Miami and the Californian Pacific Coast Highway, respectively) but the looks were still about a damp, humid finish to the hair. At
Bora Aksu,
Yifang Wan and
Eudon Choi, texture also had a feel of post-rainy day softness, with flyaways and wet-look fringes adding edge to otherwise pretty looks.
Who knew rainy days could be such good news for style?
