Laid back luxe was all over the catwalk hair at nyfw – get the look
How do you strike a balance between being chill and super-luxe? Well Rodney Cutler gave us a lesson this NYFW with hair for the Claudia Li SS20 presentation.
“What Claudia and I wanted to do is really play up everyone’s authentic style and celebrate uniqueness. We worked with the natural texture of the hair for a lived-in look that we’re calling second or third-day hair. We also mixed in chunky side braids and rope braid chignons to complement the different pieces in the collection,” says Redken brand ambassador and cutler hair lead Rodney Cutler.
The lived-in texture style adds volume to flat-looking hair, giving your long locks depth from the ends to the roots of the head.GET THE LOOK – LIVED-IN TEXTURE:
Step 1: Prep clean hair with Redken One United.
Step 2: Massage Redken Dry Shampoo Paste 05 into the roots for added lift and volume.
Step 3: Blend Redken Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame with Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil and run through the hair for smoothness, while maintaining the natural texture.
Step 4: Let your hair hang naturally and if needed, add a few spritzes of the Redken Triple Pure 32 hairspray to hold the look.
The chignon look presents an elegant style, with the hair scrapped back into a tight plat twist at the back of the head.
GET THE LOOK – CHIGNON:
Step 1: Work Redken Dry Shampoo Paste 05 through clean, dry hair. Blow dry using a paddle brush for a smooth, sleek finish.
Step 2: Mist Redken Triple Pure 32 and brush the hair straight back for high-hold, without any crunch.
Step 3: Separate the top section of the hair and gather remaining hair into a ponytail. Secure with an elastic.
Step 4: Brush the top section back and overlay, before combining into the ponytail. Secure with an elastic.
Step 5: Divide the ponytail into two sections and twist. Secure into a chignon with bobby pins.
Step 6: Mist with Redken Triple Pure 32 to secure.
