Light is always important in a hair salon but at Lab Sixtyone and LAB61 Barbershop in Porto, Portugal it's a real talking point, thanks to a specially commissioned light installation.
The three-metre bespoke artwork was created by renowned Portugese artist Valentim Quaresma, who has worked with
Lady Gaga and has pieces displayed in Portugal's leading design museum, MUDE.
The futuristic piece takes centre stage in the cutting-edge, silver salon, which was created by salon owner Josie Georgia and designer Ana Luisa Paulo.
Located in the heart of Portu, the salon takes its cue from traditional Portugese barbershops, but with a seriously futuristic update.
"I wanted silver, silver and more silver," laughs Josie. "But we decided to add a darker grey to give contrast. The floor is cement, but has silver sparkles mixed in."
Reclaimed and restored furniture makes up much of the salon decor, all with a fresh silver lick of paint to match the interior.
