French brand La Biosthetique recently hosted their annual International Beauty Stylist Awards at the Palais des Congres de Paris.

Now in its fifth year, the awards recognise creativity across the brand, with entries representing eleven different countries.

More than 200 La Biosthetique hair artists gathered for 'The Party' - an aptly titled celebration of creativity and technical skills. Guests were greeted by living sculptures, dressed in Marie Antoinette-style gowns.

Earlier this year, La Biosthetique stylists were invited to submit a hair image, incorporating their personal take on the latest trends in fashion, art, and popular culture.

Eleven finalists representing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia and Serbia, England, Canada, and Australia were then invited to take part in a shoot in Berlin.

Led by La Biosthetique creative director Alexander Dinter, the finalists took part in a styling workshop, which included model casting, styling and makeup, and concluded with a professional photo shoot.

These images formed the entries for the Professional Beauty Stylist Award, which was judged in both consumer and professional categories.

André Aus der Wieschen from Germany picked up the Consumer award for his elegant curled updo, as voted for by readers of OK magazine across Europe.

The Professional award was judged by Trevor Sorbie, who joined the party via a pre-recorded video, complementing all the finalists on the level of talent across the competition.

Helen Tether, owner of Sensu Hairdressing, Halesowen, England took the prize, with a graphic black bob - inspired, she said, by the atmosphere at the Berlin photoshoot.

Trevor described her image as encapsulating 'everything that is beautiful about hair', and added, "the cut, the finish, the clothes - everything is perfect."

The show concluded with a lively Lady Gaga-inspired hair show, featuring dancers and models singing and dancing their way across the chandelier-festooned room. Hair was created by the daring of Parisian haute couture hair, Stephane Delhay.

As the champagne flowed and classic disco tunes blared, the audience hit the dancefloor for a night of well-earned celebration.
