Many salons in the UK are celebrating salon anniversaries this year that range from 10 to a mighty 100 successful years in business. HJ speaks to the salon owners to find out how they plan on celebrating this year and how far they’ve come since they first opened.
10 years
Bloggs Salon in Bristol is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with an awards dinner. Salon owner Joe Hemmings said: "Celebrating 10 years in business is a proud moment. The team I have around me are second to none and all care about our Bloggs vision. This is also a time to reflect on the past decade and what we have learnt so far to push the business forward.”
25 years
Lino Thomas in Stansted is celebrating 25 years since Lino first opened the salon with just one other stylist, an apprentice and a part-time receptionist. Salon owner Lino said: “I am immensely proud that the salon has built a great reputation, not only for hairdressing excellence, but also for award-winning training. We go out of our way to make every client feel welcome with complimentary head massages and refreshments.”
40 years
Hensmans salon is celebrating 40 years of family business this year. To begin the celebrations, Hensmans in Northampton held its official birthday party at the end of January with its team and clients. Salon owner and director Julie Hensman said: “Keeping our clients and the team members at the heart of the
business and all that we do has been key to reaching our 40-year anniversary.”
50 years
Willow Hair Design in Kettering is celebrating 50 years since the salon opened in 1970. On the day, salon owner Jose Foresdyke is shutting her business for the very first time, and treating her styling team to go and watch a musical in London, followed by a dinner. Jose said: “I feel proud and also amazed at reaching this anniversary. I am incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive team. We have created ‘Willow’ as it is today and my ambition is to have many happy and successful tomorrows.”
100 years
The
KH Hair Group is celebrating a century in business as the company opened with a single salon on a quiet corner of Nottinghamshire in 1920. The first salon opened with six gentlemen's chairs downstairs and the owner, Arthur Hall, installed eight female cubicles upstairs to create the very first unisex salon outside of London.
