2014 has been one of the most adventurous year’s for men’s hair since the heady days of the 1980s. Here we look back at some of the key men's hair looks that shaped the past 12 months.
The Man Bun
Love it or hate it, you couldn’t ignore
the man bun in 2014 – and it’s still a key look for 2015, all be it in a more relaxed form. This award-wining shot from Michael Francos at D&J Ambrose epitomises the more dressy buns that prevailed in the early part of the year.

Beards
Beards became embedded in men’s hair culture in 2014, proving themselves part of the mainstream rather than a short-lived fad. 2015 could see them go either way – bigger and bushier or more kempt. But the beard isn’t about to disappear any time soon.

Long hair
Longer hair found its way from the catwalk to the street in 2014, with many younger guys losing their 2013 top knots and letting their locks flow free.

The fade
With classic barbering very much in vogue, the fade showed no sign of fading away in 2014.
Curls
While sides often remained shorter, many men’s looks embraced natural curls and texture.
