Keep service levels consistent over christmas! VARIOUSPHAB Standard  chief executive, Nergish Wadia-Austin warns salon managers to maintain high levels of customer care during the busy Christmas period. Here are her tips on maintaining service standards.
  • Turn up a little earlier and run checks on salon and staff appearance including additional salon decorations.
  • Hospitality should be seasonal and served with appropriate festive cheer.
  • Tool inspections for daily hygiene should happen each morning and safety checks should have been completed well in advance.
  • Stock levels should be anticipated for increased retail sales and running out too early means a lack of calculation and lessons must be learnt and recorded for next year's stock level decisions.
  • Gift wrapping services should be varied and ideally cater for all budgets. This can really make a difference to how many gifts can be sold by staff.
  • Perfectly designed and beautifully presented gift vouchers are the icing on the cake and should have been printed and ready to sell during this period.
  •  Cleaning rotas should be strictly adhered to during this hectic period as this is when tidiness and cleanliness standards can easily, yet mistakenly, take a lower level of priority.
  • Appointments should be checked and reminders/confirmation text messages sent out without fail so that any empty spaces are filled up immediately to maximise turnover.
  •  Attention to detail is the key to maintaining high standards of service and managers should really remind staff daily about the importance of the little things that will make them and the salon stand out of the crowd!
