The Jean Pierre Braganza Autumn/Winter 2014 collection saw Indira Schauwecker and the TONI&GUY Session Team create coloured rope braids inspired by the contrasts of light and dark.
The show: Jean Pierre Braganza Autumn/Winter 2014
The hair team: Indira Schauwecker and the TONI&GUY Session Team
The look: Rope braids with coloured panels
The inspiration: Chiaroscuro - the Italian term for the contrast between dark and light
The key product: label.m Resurrection Dust
"The Jean Pierre Braganza girl is always beautiful but juxtaposed with an idea of power," said Indira. "This season we played with the concept of c
hiaroscuro - the contrasts between dark and light in a painting. We achieved this through the use of coloured wefts, but also with the texture in the hair - strong sleek sides with an almost geometric twisted braid."
Get the look
1. Work label.m Volume Mousse in to dry hair and blast dry with a rough middle parting, directioning hair away from the face.
2. Once dry, add Resurrection Dust on top to create a bit of volume and texture on the crown. Take a halo section from the recession to the crown and clip in coloured wefts on either side at the hairline; silver or white on dark-haired models and navy or black on light-haired models. Backcomb the hair first to ensure the wefts stay in place. Clip the wefts out of the way.
3. Bring the rest of the natural hair back and divide into two. Rope braid right to the ends and secure with an elastic.
4. Use
a Topsy Turvy hair tool to pull the coloured wefts horizontally through the plaits, from one side to another. Work from right to left, bringing all of the coloured wefts in to the braids right to the end. Secure the whole braid at the end with an elastic.
5. Use a small amount of Hold & Gloss to flatten hair on the side of the head, leaving the ear poking out. Finish with hairspray.
