Jamie's apprentice

Yesterday saw the start of Jamie's Apprentice on ITV'sThis Morning and with the six finalists beating stiff competition from stylists around the country, each one of them did the hairdressing industry proud. As the resident hairdresser on the show, Jamie Stevens invited me to join him on the judging panel where we will eliminate an apprentice each week until the winner is revealed. The prize includes working as Jamie's Apprentice on the show, shooting a a front cover for HJ and a complete hairdressing kit.

As the six arrived at the Studio, they each thought they had been invited down for an interview in the final stages of the initial judging and were all hugely excited and surprised when we told them that they were the final six, and the live sessions would start immediately. As they started their first task - a blow dry in 30 minutes - each one of them did the hairdressing industry proud as they worked calmly under huge pressure.

Working on model's they hadn't seen before and with new hairdressing kit and products that were unfamiliar to them - each executed an excellent finish with some going for the big and bouncy blow dry whilst others chose beach-babe curls and a more editorial look.

Their passion and commitment to the industry was evident to see as each was intereviewed  by show hosts Phillip Schofield and Ruth Langsford. The plans now are well underway for next week's challenge .......
