In an exclusive interview with HJi, Jamie Stevens reveals all about the hair makeovers and weekly styles he's creating for The X Factor.
Jamie says: "The majority of the contestants were really up for trying something new and listening to my advice. There were a few who weren't as easily persuaded, but that's to be expected when you're going for big changes."
"Your hair is your main accessory," he adds, "so making sure they were happy was a massive part of the process. We have worked with some of the key trends, but we want to make sure the contestants remain individuals."

Misha
"Misha oozes style already and we are going to emphasise that - her hair is going to be visually stunning in the shows."
"We are looking to make Misha into a new black hair icon, following in the footsteps of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Shingai Shoniwa from the Noisettes."
"We are going to play around with her hair to create powerful and strong shapes."

Sophie Habibis
"We've given Sophie a deep chocolate shade. The hair has a strong retro vibe - here we've given her a smooth top knot and front roll."
"You will see this look worked on throughout the live shows."

Amelia Lily
"Amelia came to the show with a strong Pixie Lott vibe and platinum white blonde hair."
"We went for an on-trend look and coloured her hair baby pink."
"Although her new look didn't take her through to the next round she still retains a great rocky, grungy hairstyle."

Janet Devlin
"We changed Janet's colour to a beautiful rich copper, which she absolutely loved."
"Her look is youthful and she has beautifully naturally curly hair so we decided to embrace the texture."
"We haven't straightened it yet - but that's not to say we won't be experimenting in the future!"

Craig Colton
"Craig is on an amazing journey and has lost a lot of weight."
"He has a longish but round face shape so we couldn't lose too much of the length."
"We've given him a bit of an undercut, which is shorter on the back and sides but we will be working with quiffs and different styles over the weeks as he transforms."

James Michael
"James sang Ticket To Ride by The Beatles - the lyrics were unfortunately predictive for him, but before he moved on we transformed his big, curly hair by taking the back and sides shorter - after throwing away the hat. "

Frankie Cocozza
"Frankie is a cool, rocky, skinny jeans-wearing star so we decided to keep his existing big, messy head of hair, but made sure that it was cut in the right places so it would flatter and still suit his persona."

Marcus Collins
"I originally wanted to go for a flat top but as Marcus is a hairdresser himself we decided just to tweak it a bit - after some bantering backwards and forwards!"
"We cropped the back and sides and went for a military fade but maintained some length at the top, almost moulding into a flat top."

Jonjo Kerr
"Jonjo was a real soldier boy, but before he got his marching orders we wanted to reflect his background in his hairstyle. We went for military short back and sides, with just a little length on the top."

Sami Brookes
"We have added length to Sami's hair and lightened the colour."
"The plan is to reflect her big, bubbly personality but you don't always have to do this with a drastic cut and colour."
"We will be experimenting with different styles and updo's over the coming weeks."

Kitty Brucknell
"We have kept Kitty's hair long but because it's very fragile we have put her on an intense conditioning course to get it healthy."
"For now, we will be experimenting with wigs but watch this space because that doesn't mean I won't be doing something different with her hair in the future."

Johnny Robinson
"I met all of the contestants for a few days before we transformed them. Johnny wears a piece, but I couldn't tell at all."
"He is an inspiration for men and just shows that you can buy a piece that looks natural without spending a fortune."
"With Johnny, his personality is his most important asset so we are keeping his look understated."

2 Shoes
"Although the girls have returned to Essex, their look was all about their regional roots."
"We changed their hair so it was longer, blonder and darker and bouncier."
"We also added extensions to really enhance the look."

Nu Vibe
"These guys are the quintessential boy band so we've channelled that look."
"Most of the lads had short hair to begin with so we've just emphasised shapes."
"Stefan has amazing blonde hair so we have gone for a floppy schoolboy look and added length in the quiff."
"Bradley had naturally auburn hair that he hated so we coloured it darker for him."
The Risk
"We've gone for a more street and urban look with these boys. The guys had short hair to start with so we have opted for short, outline shapes, adding a few tramlines to give them a more streetstyle edge."

Rhythmix
"These girls are a really funky, young band so we've had a lot of fun with their hair."
"We shaved one side of Leanne's head to show off her Afro hair and coloured the opposite side red. Jessie's hair is really on-trend - we've worked with a soft root stretch with darker roots and lighter ends. Jade's hair is a lovely deep plum and we've lightened Kerry's hair. She's now a gorgeous platinum ash blonde and we've added hair extensions."
