A video of a woman's hair transformation has been doing the rounds on TikTok after the hairdresser claimed she charged £108 an hour for the haircut and colour – totalling £1400 for the whole appointment!
The California-based hairdresser
@byprado_ claims she spent 13 hours on the client's hair. Meaning the total cost of the woman's cut and colour was around £1400 ($1950).

We've
debated raising prices many times before in HJ and know it's a hot topic – and for good reason. But it's interesting to see the reaction it's had amongst the non-hairdresser community.

The
Mirror reported how viewers on the social media platform were shocked by the amount it cost for the woman to change her colour from brunette to ash blonde and her grown-out hair cut into a choppy style.
Interestingly, the hairdresser didn't apologise for the amount she charges for her work. She wrote on TikTok: "I did not think my last post was going to make so many people mad with how much I charge, but I think this one's going to make you madder.
"I charged $150 per hour and I believe this whole transformation took 13 hours, we did two separate days."
Billions of people have now watched the video with thousands liking and commenting. The clip was also shared by a user named
Justin English, who pointed out a detail that a lot of hairdressers won't have failed to miss.
He said: "Imagine paying $2000 or £1500 to get your hair done and the hairdresser can't even manage to not get bleach on the entire sleeve of your shirt." Justin then zooms in to show the stain on the sleeve of the customer's black sleeve.

People could not get over the price, as well as the amount of time it took to complete the hair appointment.
One TikTok user said: "I have a cosmetology license and while the price per hour is totally reasonable, how long it took her is not. She scammed that woman."
Another wrote: "Bruh at first I'm like $150 is pretty cheap, then I read per hour...
A third commented: "My hairdresser could do this in five hours and would only charge $250."
However, others didn't see an issue with it and pointed out that there are lots of other factors that could contribute to the cost.
A different user commented: "She's over-charging, but she can do that. People are clearly paying, so they must love her work."
Someone else added: "This specific service for how much it was is not justified, but I hope y'all know how expensive product, supplies, booth rent, salon fees and living expenses are."
We can't wait to hear what you think!
