The Irish Government has announced the launch of a national professional hairdressing apprenticeship. The Hairdressing Council of Ireland spearheaded the campaign with support from the Image Skillnet Learning & Development Training Network to enhance skills within the sector and attract young people to the industry.
The Hairdressing Council of Ireland said in a statement on Facebook: “Creating apprenticeship opportunities in cities and small towns across the country will increase job opportunities for young people within their own community, will help to keep communities alive, and will help to build sustainable employment into the future.”
The Hairdressing Council of Ireland is a not-for-profit organisation to make essential and much needed changes in the hairdressing industry. They strive to enhance skills within the hairdressing sector, and attract new people back into Hairdressing, which is sometimes perceived as a difficult sector to make a substantial career. While there is a reasonably successful hairdressing sector within the Dublin area, this is not reflected in other parts of the country.
