How would you describe your business?
Our business is very passionate about hairdressing. We have three barbershops and two unisex salons employing 40 staff. Our team members are trained to the highest standards and we like to focus on quality, consistency and professionalism.
What is the history of your business?
Our business has been in my family for 105 years. Our first barbershop was opened in 1907 by my great grandfather, but was bombed during the war! Our Surrey Street salon opened in 1927 and is still the main hub of our business. I have two brothers and two cousins who I work with - so it has remained very much a family business.
Where is the business based and what type of client do you attract?
We are based in the centre of Sheffield, which like many cities has had its ups and downs. We still believe we are in a great position as we attract all markets including families, professionals, students, and those looking for high fashion to classic barbering.
What were the major challenges faced in 2012?
Maintaining clientele through delivering quality work and service in a very difficult financial climate. Building our newest men's salon without effecting the standards and continuity on our other salons.
How did you face these challenges?
By keeping the team focused and motivated at all times.
What plans do you have for 2013?
This year we hope to launch a training academy, which I am very excited about. We are working hard to make this happen.
