It's a white out at the state-of-the-art Sassoon Academy in London. The clean palette was chosen to better show off the colour of students' creations while the lofty space includes a theatre, shop, student lounge and four classrooms. L'Oréal España, Calle de Josefa Valcarcel 48, Madrid

One of L'Oréal's two 'green' academies, the Spanish education hub was designed by Guido Matta & Partners and combines state of the art technology with ecology. Features include a glass recycling wall, a recycled water display and ecomat flooring made from recycled plastic and olive pits!

TONI&GUY have academies all over the globe, in some of the most fashion-forward cities and most exotic locations you can imagine. Their Singapore school opened in 1998 in the heart of the dynamic city and is housed in a colourful building on one of the most historical surviving streets.


ASK Academy, 1-5-2 Higashi-Shimbashi, Tokyo

Combining futuristic design with high-tech functionality, the light-drenched ASK Academy in Tokyo has space for 250 students across a 650m2 total area. 


A flexible layout ensures the space can be used for a range of needs, from traditional classroom teaching to shows and presentations.


GFG Hair & Styling, Düsseldorf, Germany

TIGI's concept salon in Düsseldorf features an 11-metre catwalk right through the centre, which can be used for in-salon education as well as shows and seminars - not to mention letting clients feel like supermodels.


The space also features a raised colour bar which resembles a DJ deck, high above the salon.

Opened in 2000, the Joico Artistic Institute is more like a high-end salon than a training centre, with bespoke furniture, elegant design and a serene atmosphere. With space to cover all aspects of training, the space is regularly used as a hub for Joico's international team of stylists.

Stunning period details such as historical doors and ceilings serve as a reminder both of the building and the brand's heritage, while the high-tech fit-out ensures this is a perfect educational space.


BbU, 415 W. 13 Street, New York

Housed in the eight-storey House of Bumble in the heart of New York's achingly cool Meatpacking district, Bumble and Bumble academy comprises a Design School, Business School and Network Educator School. Decked out in trademark NYC style - brick walls, concrete floors and quirky furniture - the real selling point of this space is the floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views across the whole of New York.


Dylan Bradshaw Academy, 56 South William Street, Dublin

Dylan Bradshaw's academy is housed above his salon in a Georgian building in the heart of Dublin, adding up to 10,000 square feet of hairdressing heaven. Clean lines contrast against period features and timber flooring for an academy which looks forward while still acknowledging historical references.
