I need a hair hero!
Let's hope a new year will mean some new male style icons to usurp the likes of David Beckham. Don't get me wrong, Becks is a stylish guy and, apart from the hideous beard fiasco of late last year, he rarely gets it wrong hair-wise, but surely there's some young blood coming through the ranks to take his place as "the man whose haircut every male client wants".
I think we'll have to look beyond the football pitch to find the next male hair icon. Cristiano Ronaldo may have the face and even the style credentials on the field, but, if this pic from a recent red carpet event is anything to go by, he's somewhat lacking when it comes to evening wear!
Until recently I would have said Zak Efron was too "teen" to be our next hair hero, but in the past few months he's matured into quite a dapper guy. Could his very quaffed look catch on with Brits though?
Maybe the less dressed hair of Gossip Girl heartthrob Ed Westwick is more on-trend - um, only if the limp look is in for spring/summer. Ed, you know how to dress cool, but those tresses are tired!
Possibly the big (in both senses of the word) hair icon of 2010 will be Twilight star Robert Pattinson. He manages to combine teen idol appeal with a certain sophistication - but is his hair-look too unstructured for today's discerning male clients?
Even long hair seems to be moving towards a more structured mode; and the popular short-back-and-sides and quiff is evolving but not showing any signs of disappearing. Maybe Mr Pattinson will see it off this year.
