Having worked extensively behind the chair and behind the scenes at many fashion week Cos Sakkas knows how to create brilliant looks that suit a multitude of occasions, trends and inspirations. But what if you want to bring a touch of the catwalk trends to your client looks?
"Rather than copying the total look it’s about taking elements and working that into your everyday styling," explains Cos Sakkas, international creative director for TONI&GUY.
Accessories “At House of Holland we created low ponytails with wisps of hair around the face and used coloured lace round the base of the tail.
Accessories are big news at the moment, from simple coloured bands to more embellishment and bold details. The great thing about accessories is they can be used as big or as small as you want. Something simple like a coloured band can match your outfit or your shoes; something bigger can be the main feature to your overall look.”
Beehives “There were quite a few beehives at the shows in London and Milan and while it was exaggerated at shows such as Tata Naka, it can take on more of a 60s-Bardot feeling for clients. Simply backcomb through the crown and gather the hair into a ponytail just above the occipital bone and secure. This style is easy to do and is ideal for an after-work event or smarter day look. A little bit of powder such as label.m Resurrection Dusk helps create the volume.”
Cornrows/scalp braids
“We saw a lot of scalp braids at the shows – think Fashion for Conservation, Hellavagirl and Francesco Rasola - and they are always a favourite with celebrities such as Rita Ora. They can create an undercut feel to the hair without being too aggressive and of course, are temporary rather than a more permanent short cut. Simply part the hair low on one side, and scalp braid through the side, then wave or straighten the remaining hair, slick it over and pull into a low side ponytail. It gives an edgy feeling to any style for a night out.”
