How to create a ponytail with a twist using stylers

The ghd Midnight Collection is twelve professional looks all inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalk shows and created using the new ghd Gold Classic styler.

Here is how you can create this twist on the ponytail using your stylers.

Step One: Take a centre parting from the front of the hair to the nape. Starting at the nape take a 2cm deep, diagonal section from the centre parting towards the ear.	Step Two: Hold the section at a 90 degree angle. Place the ghd styler at the root and overdirect the hair towards the centre while gliding the iron through to the ends.

Step Three: Repeat this, working up towards the occipital bone.	Step Four: Continue working in diagonal sections, including the front side sections, towards the front of the hairline to complete. Always keep the sections at 90 degrees to the head, and continue to overdirect the sections towards the centre back.

Step Five: Take a small triangular section from the front of the head.	Step Six: Divide in half and cross the left-hand strand over the right. Twist the right-hand strand and pass it under the left. Repeat this until you reach the ends. Tie with elastic and secure at the crown.

Step Seven: From crown to temple take a parting on each side of the head and clip it out of the way.	Step Eight: Starting on the left-hand side with the remaining har, comb the hair tight to the scalp towards the crown and secure with elastic. Repeat on the right side, then join the two ponytails together.

Step Nine: Drop the two side sections, backcomb slightly at the root and smooth out with a brush.	Step Ten: Unclip the rope plait, wrap around the ponytail and secure by sewing the plaits together. Finish with shine spray.
