How to Create a 90s Supermodel Blowout with Ky Wilson

Published 11th Sep 2023 by Charlotte Grant-West

Sexy, 90s hair is back in big way and Ky Wilson for BaByliss PRO show us how the 90s supermodel blowout is done this time around.

Follow the six steps below to re-create the look and keep scrolling to see our video from the shoot day.

  1. First up, turn on your heated rollers and go for the higher of the two temperature settings to get them nice and hot, ready for when you are.
  2. Prep the hair using mousse and root lift sprays to create volume and grip on the hair. After that, section the hair off for easy rolling.
  3. Pull the hair up with the roller right to the end, and over direct. Then, keeping tension, roll towards the root. Catch any loose hairs with a tail comb and scoop around the roller. Finally, clip in place.
  4. Let the set cool down fully. It's important not to skip this step but you can speed this part up by using the cool setting on your hair dryer with a diffuser attachment.
  5. Take out the rollers and let the magic happen. Depending on length of hair, hair type and what kind of layers your client has, the result will be different. The more layers, the more movement there will be.
  6. Brush out using a nylon and bristle brush, creating that airy, ethereal Cindy Crawford texture. Then I'm here for all the hair flicks in the world! Big, 90s hair is here to stay.
