Hob salons takes top prize at wella international trend vision 2014 HOB Salons Takes Top Prize at Wella International Trend Vision 2014 - featured Nestor Sanchez from HOB Salons clinched the top prize in the Young Talent category at the Wella International Trend Vision 2014 event last night, with a stunning silver, white and amethyst cut and colour. Taiwan took home the Platinum title in the Color category with a stunningly beautiful purple, silver and blue shimmery style. Held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco, the winners pf Trend Vision were announced after a weekend of inspiring shows and presentations in the millionaires' playground. Mark Hayes and the Sassoon Academy opened the event with a show stopping presentation of their Nu Pop collection. Paying homage to 60 years of Sassoon, influences included Peggy Moffat fused with Kurt Cobain grunge. The result was modern textures with more than a hint of attitude. "We can work with geometric lines without it being a geometric shape," explained Mark as he cut long textured blonde layers, which were enhanced by pastel blue roots. "Hair should move and be free; if you lose the freedom you lose the beauty." Hair and beauty writer Lady Kinvara Belfour also interviewed colour guru and Wella Professionals creative director for colour Josh Wood about his inspirations, work on the catwalks and the many projects he is working on, including a brand new colour concept for Wella Professionals. "I want hairdressing to sit alongside brands that are forward thinking such as Gucci and Prada, which is why I have worked on a new concept for colourists that will ensure clients come into the salon for their colour," he enthused. Couture Colour, which launches in January, is a salon-based education programme that is about conversation, confidence and supporting salons to offer a bespoke colour experience for all clients everywhere. "Beauty is 360 degrees - it's not just the hair, eyebrows or make-up, but all of these elements," Josh explained. New Zealand-based hair entrepreneur Paul Serville looked at the business side of the industry, asking the international audience what an influencer looks like. "Hairdressers don't just cut or colour hair - you are a spirit lifter, a consultant, an image maker and a hair health professional. Being a great hairdresser is more than just being able to offer a great cut - you can change people's habits and influence them," he said. Catwalk king Eugene Souleiman also recreated some of his favourite catwalk looks, from his first show with Alexander McQueen in 1995 to the more recent Peter Jensen shows. The audience then sat in anticipation of a surprise show - no one knew what to expect. Suddenly host for the day and maestro of long hair Patrick burst onto the stage surrounded by models and presented his Riviera collection. Gorgeous updos and elegant styles transported the auditorium back to the glamorous days of the 1950s. The room was in its feet and Patrick shed a tear - it was a moment no one would forget. The new trends were also revealed, as Akin Konizi created beautiful and poetic blondes, undercuts and whimsical textures for spring/summer 2015. For autumn/winter 2015 Cyrill Brune - the first winner of the Young Talent award ten years ago - presented wild and sophisticated textures, dreadlocks and muted colours. The evening finished with a dark and mysterious Eclipse Art show by Sebastian Professional which saw creative directors Michael Polsinelli and Shay Dempsey worked in tandem on models. Next year's event will be held in the historic city of Berlin.
