Hershesons conduit street overhauled by gpstudio gpstudio overhauls Hershesons flagship store on Conduit Street, London Hershesons Conduit Street has had an overhaul at the hands of luxury retail designer consultancy, gpstudio. The flagship salon of the Hershesons group is located on Conduit Street in the middle of Mayfair, with neighbours including designer superstore Dover Street Market, Vivienne Westwood and Moschino. Briefed with reflecting the fashion credentials of Daniel and Luke Hersheson and creating a high-end customer experience, the new look has more in common with galleries and retail spaces than the traditional salon layout. Marble, brass, wood and polished plaster is used throughout, with a black marble centerpiece and brass staircase making for stand-out features. The designers also worked alongside Office of Light to create a floating light feature, which flows throughout the whole store. Workstations are shifted from the walls to the centre of the salon, while a discrete desk at the front of the salon takes the place of a reception disk - a maître d' takes charges of guests, while bookings and reservations now take place 'back of house'. Gregor Jackson, partner at gpstudio, comments:
Premium hairdressers are beginning to realise that their salons need to move away from the standardised cliché space for people to have their hair cut and styled in a retail experience which is a 3D expression of the brand or product. Fashion credentials of leading hairstylists need to be reflected in the store’s design, in order to create an experience that acts as the bridge for a consumer between the brand’s values and their in-store experience.
