More than 1,000 members of Headmasters staff celebrated home-grown talent last night, with their annual awards.

And while the winter weather may have temporarily improved outside, the successful salon group managed to conjure up snow, ice sculptures, and a selection of après ski-styled bars for their winter wonderland-themed evening at London's Battersea Evolution.

Comedian Micky Flanagan opened the evening with a raucous set of well-received hairdressing gags, which left the audience in stitches.

Headmasters Managing Director John Sanders then took to the stage with a congratulatory speech, revealing that the group had served an average of 15,000 clients per week in 2010.

He added that with at least ten new premises scheduled to open throughout 2011, Headmasters should have 50 salons nationwide by the end of the year.

Following a short film highlighting the company's highlights of the year, a series of special achievement awards were handed out to those staff who are currently celebrating ten years of service at Headmasters. Those who have reached this milestone anniversary are:
  • Vincenzo Napoli, Weybridge
  • Hayley Tuckwell, Teddington
  • Lisa Acres, New Malden
  • Sarah Godwin, Richmond
  • Carolyn Richards, Wimbledon Village
  • Preeti Kalsi, HPL
  • Cara Brewer, Fulham Road
  • Dorothy Morris, Weybridge
  • Margaret Donald, HPL
To mark Headmasters' charitable efforts throughout the year, special guest John Frieda was then welcomed to the stage. He revealed that the group had raised £28,000 for HAIRraising, with Wimbledon Village announced as the Most Charitable Salon of the Year.

It was then down to Herman Ho and Jonathan Soons of the Headmasters Artistic Team to announce the all-important award winners in both business (judged by performance) and creative (guest-judged by John Frieda) categories.
