The HJ Team were thrilled to be guests at last night’s Headmasters Awards, held at Battersea Evolution in London’s Battersea Park.
Attended by over 1000 of the Headmasters team, the glittering Grand Finals acknowledged the achievements and creativity of the Headmasters team throughout 2017.
Celebrating a successful year, Headmasters Chairman John Sanders opened with a congratulatory speech detailing Headmasters success of 2017 and expansion plans for 2018 and introduced the Headmasters Pro Artistic Team who wowed the crowd with a high energy, interactive show. Starting with a street style feast inspired by Gucci’s s/s catwalk, the looks were raw and urban with a little cheekiness to boot. Morphing into glam rock meet moody goth, the hair was structured and based on the foundations of shape triangular, round and square. Culminating in an ode to sci-fi movies in the 90’s the overarching theme of celebrating shape and movement was refreshing and bold.
Our host for the evening was Kem from 2017’s Love Island. With years as a barber behind him he was perfectly placed to lead the night’s events with his passion for the hair industry.
Onto the awards, the Business awards (where salons were judged on in-salon performance) had a brand new addition for 2017 The Big 5. This was presented in conjunction with HSBC where the winning salon Dorking won a massive £5000. And if that wasn't enough the lucky winner of Headmasters Bring On The Colour competition won a gorgeous a brand new Audi A1. We can't forget the Photographic Awards where the team were invited to show there creative skills and enter one of five categories The Ultimate Image Award, Mens Image Award, Christine Sanders Future Star Award, ghd Avant Garde Award and Colour Innovation Award (which were independently judged by well known industry figures including renowned barber Kevin Luchmun, Katie Allan, Creative Director at Charles Worthington Karine Jackson, President at The Fellowship and Darren Oram, Education Director at L’Oreal Professionnel.)
