Joanna Lumley was the glamorous host of the Headmasters Awards 2015, which recognised the achievements - both creative and business - of staff across the UK salon chain.
"Long before most of you were born, I was a fashion model," she told the audience in her welcoming speech. "I spent my life in hair salons. Then I became Purdy and hairdressers loved me because of all the cuts I inspired. And then I was Patsy - darling - and I used more hairspray than of you. I love hairdressers!"
Managing director of Headmasters, John Sanders, then took to the stage to congratulate the 1,000-strong audience on the group's achievement over the year - including 100,000 more client visits than in 2013 and achieving a Grade 2 level at their recent OFSTED inspection for education.
Other achievements included a win at
L’Oreal Colour Trophy in the Mizani Afro Look and People Choice categories and
HJ's Afro Stylist of the Year!
Then it was on to the prizes, with seven awards for business judged on in-salon performance and eight for creative work, which were independently judged by celebrity hairdressers Guy Kremer and Andreas Stavrou head of creative at ghd.
