Have you heard the 'uber' for hairdressing has arrived The Hairstee app is described as the Uber for Hair because it allows clients to use geo-tagging to monitor available hair professionals in the local area in real-time. Similar to Uber, professional hair professionals can reduce or increase the price of their haircuts based on demand to make their daily target and to manage their time more efficiently. The app is the brainchild of project consultant Yemi Busari. He was spurred into action while watching a harassed mother with three sons getting their hair cut at his local barbers. Yemi said: “Hairstee allows both freelancers and professionals to sign up so whether you have a space to fill at the salon or you are seeking further freelance work it welcomes both." hairstee appMore than 100 hairdressers have signed up to the service since its soft launch last year and Hairstee states all professionals using the app have been vetted beforehand. Keith Conniford, Registrar and CEO of the Hair and Barber Council believes it’s essential to ensure standards remain the same regardless of whether a client has booked through an app or directly with a salon. Keith told HJ exclusively: "There are definitely some consumers who will like this type of service for convenience and flexibility. We must not let standards slip so it is important that a ‘vetting’ procedure is carried out to ensure the professional is exactly that – a professional who has been trained and qualified.” He added: “Attending regular training classes to keep skills perfected and up to date is important to continue with professional salon standards. The professionalism of everything we do comes back to giving the customer the highest level of service and skill, no matter in what type of environment.”
