Harvey Luke Hair is housed in the second oldest building in Derby; the former home of the bishop of the city with views across to the cathedral.
As well as boasting wooden beams, high ceilings and a central courtyard, the historical space also used to house a secret underground passage that the nuns used to pass through to gain access to and from the cathedral!
It was this sense of history which attracted owner Natalie Allen to the space, and which dictated the design direction. "Green is our corporate colour," she explains. "And three of our salons have the same tone of green, which also features on the company car, business cards and website. However due to the age of the property, I decided to use a more calming tone."
'Modern vintage' was the brief, with calming colours in neutral shades used throughout and glitzy chandeliers to complement the soaring ceilings.
Bringing a sense of fun to the otherwise serene surroundings is the 'Pick n Mix' room, which hosts express beauty treatments. The candy-striped walls and quirky details are a perfect match to the fun, budget-friendly services on offer.
