Hairstyle hits and misses from the bet awards
Brandy
Moesha star Brandy Norwood recently reinvented herself as a rapper, with the pseudonym Bran'Nu. For the 2010 BET Awards, she revealed a blunt fringe with braided headband. "No comment," says Michelle. Not a winning look!
Cassie
Singer Cassie shocked her fans last year when she shaved half her head. While some called it a publicity stunt, the sometime model has stuck with the look. "This simple, sleek ponytail teamed with texture complements Cassie's sophisticated but quirky look," comments Michelle.
Estelle
Brit singer/songwriter Estelle is doing an impressive job of flying the flag for homegrown talent in the US. Michelle says, "Estelle has kept her short crop with length on top, and has worked with controlled movement rather than wearing it sleek." The groomed curls are fun and stylish, reaffirming the American Boy singer's status as quirky English style icon in New York. "This season is about wearing your hair with texture and movement," continues Michelle, "Estelle has definitley got it right."
Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada might be best known as Will Smith's wife, but the actress and singer is also a respected producer and business woman. Michelle is a fan of the long braids the Madagascar star opted for at the awards, commenting, "Jada has very beautiful features, and this braided style - swept up and away from the face - really complements her natural beauty."
Keyshia Cole
Singer and reality star Keyshia is a true style chameleon. At BET's annual awards to celebrate African Americans in entertainment, Ms Cole revealed a voluminous quiffed style. "Keyshia has a strong individual look," says Michelle, "and this bold, blonde look makes her stand out from the crowd,"
Keri Hilson
Keri Hilson recently became the face of Avon, and with her glowing skin and eye for fun and fashionable makeup, it's easy to see why. "The shaded perimeter works beautifully with Keri's skin tone," says Michelle, "and the longer asymetric, swept fringe adds versatility to the style."
