Hairraising thanks the industry for its generosity

John Frieda.jpgHairdressers were out in force at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital recently, as John Frieda hosted an evening to celebrate a year of HAIRraising.

In the 12 months since its launch the charity has raised nearly £500,000 towards building two new state of the art operating theatres.

Speaking to guests, John said: "Being part of HAIRraising has confirmed what I've always known - our industry has some of the most generous, supportive and charitable people around!

"I've been truly overwhelmed by the willingness there has been to pull together - from the largest salon groups to the very smallest. Everyone has helped raise a phenomenal amount of money and we're well on our way to reaching our target of £1million.

"The new operating theatres at Great Ormond Street will allow the specialist neurosciences team to treat up to 20 per cent more children - that's got to be worth aiming for."

Helping John hit home the HAIRraising message was Cameron Stewart, a patient at thecameron stewart.jpg children's hospital, who talked to guests about how invaluable the care there had been after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The evening also saw salons across the UK recognised for their fundraising efforts, with more than 20 prizes presented to those salon, large and small, that had raised the most during the past 12 months.
