Goldwell Global Zoom

Global Zoom is the new name for Goldwell’s Color Zoom Global Event, which will be take place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas from 3-5 October. Who can enter? All Goldwell stylists. Entrants must be over 21 years old at the time of the Global Event in October 2015. How do I enter? Create your own take on the Traditional Rebels collection then submit your photographic entry with your entry pack by 31st May. Download everything you need at www.goldwell.com What is the prize? The three UK winners (New Talent Colorist, Creative Colorist, Partner Colorist) will travel to Las Vegas with their models to compete at Global Zoom in October. If you win Global Zoom you will join the Global Color Zoom Creative Team and work on the international collection for 2017, experiencing worldwide PR and recognition. L'Oréal Colour Trophy

L'Oréal Colour Trophy celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2015, making it the longest running live hair competition in the world. Who can enter? Any salon nationwide. How do I enter? Submit a photographic entry to one of the four categories: the original award which is for a female look, The L’Oréal Colour Trophy; The L’Oréal Men’s Image Award; The Mizani Afro Look Award and The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Young Colourist Award. Prizes vary across the categories with the main award prize including an exciting 3-day European trip, an exclusive photoshoot with a top consumer glossy magazine and endless PR opportunities throughout the year. Fellowship for British Hairdressing Annual Awards

Held at the Fellowship Luncheon each December, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s awards recognise its members and their work. Who can enter? Members of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing are nominated by fellow members. How do I enter? Each member of the Fellowship will be asked to nominate members in categories ranging from Image of the Year to the Unsung Hero Award. What is the prize? Wella Xposure

Xposure is Wella Professionals’ competition specifically for students; a first foot on the ladder in the world of competition hairdressing. Who can enter? Hairdressing students studying for NVQ Level 2 or 3 or VRQ Level 2 or 3. You must be studying at a private training college or academy at least one day a week for the duration of the competition and have no more than five years of experience. How do I enter? Create a commercial cut and colour. The first heats take place at competition level, with the top five photographed and submitted to Wella. After judging, 80 competitors will be chosen to compete at regional heats before 20 finalists battle it out at the live grand final. What is the prize? There are three great prizes up for grabs, including training vouchers, backstage work experience and hairdressing kits. Alternative Hair Show International Visionary Award

The International Visionary Award is presented each year at the Alternative Hair Show at the Royal Albert Hall – one of the industry’s best-loved events. Who can enter? Anyone! How do I enter? Send in a photo – it doesn’t need to be exclusive to the competition. There is a small fee for each entry which goes to Fighting Leukaemia, the charity launched by Alternative Hair. What is the prize? 25 finalists are chosen from the entries. Each is invited to present a model at the Alternative Hair Show and the overall winner gets to host their own section in the following year’s show. HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional

The Oscars of the hairdressing industry take place each November to award the very best in creative hairdressing, with 15 categories making it accessible to everyone. Who can enter? Qualified hairdressers who have been working in the UK for a minimum of three years, with the exception of HJ’s Newcomer of the Year, where entrants should be 25 years and under. How do I enter? The biggest night in British hairdressing hands out 15 awards – nine regional categories and six specialists. To enter your chosen category, check the entry pack for the specific guidelines and submit four photographs created in the last year. What is the prize? The hairdressing industry isn’t just about creative skills, which is why HJ launched the British Hairdressing Business Awards to mark the brains behind the businesses. Who can enter? Any UK salon or qualified hairdresser can enter their relevant categories. How do I enter? As these awards celebrate business acumen, entry is generally through a detailed form. HJ’s Salon International Competitions

HJ brings live hairdressing competitions back to the public eye with three contests at Salon International – held right in the heart of the exhibition floor. There are four categories; Afro, Barber, Bridal and Rising Star. Who can enter? There are specific guidelines for each category, but the competitions are largely open to any salon, hairdresser or hairdressing student. How do I enter? Entry is simple – just upload a picture to www.hji.co.uk in your relevant category. It doesn’t need to be a professional shoot or a professional model, we just need to be able to see the hair clearly. What is the prize? Hair Council UK Student of the Year

The UK Student of the Year Awards are run by the Hair Council and every college, training centre and salon in the UK can nominate learners to take part. Leading hairdressers including Patrick Cameron, Jamie Stevens and Andrew Barton will judge. Who can enter? NVQ Level 2 students can enter the Red Carpet Hair competition, NVQ Level 3 students can enter the Innovative Cut and Blow Dry competition. How do I enter? Tutors need to nominate their students – a nomination pack can be downloaded on the website. What is the prize? A day shadowing Andrew Barton at his salon, a business lunch with L'Oréal Colour Trophy winner Sophia Hilton and afternoon tea at the House of Commons. Wella Professionals Trend Vision

The annual Wella Professionals TrendVision Award recognises the most skilful colour work within the industry. Compete against hairdressers from across the globe in one of two categories: Young Talent or, new for 2015, Color Vision - an evolution of the previous Color Category and is open to hairdressers of all ages. Who can enter? Any Wella Professionals stylist. How do I enter? Choose your category, select the Wella Professionals trend which you want to interpret and create a photographic look representing it. TrendVision Insight events will take place across the country to inspire you and your entry. What is the prize? There are gold, silver and bronze prizes which range from tailor-made education to an all-expenses paid weekend at the International Trend Vision Award in Berlin. Davines World Style Contest – UK

The 11th World Style Contest is an international competition for emerging Davines hairdressers, offering them an opportunity to express their creativity and talent through photography and stage work. The competition is split into three phases over a seven-month period, culminating in the Grand Final at the next World Wide Hair Tour in Los Angeles.

Who can enter? Any stylist who uses Davines products. How do I enter? Submit an image online at Davines.com from January.

What is the prize? The winner of the 2015 national final will have their own show at the 2016 Hair on Stage in London. All UK finalists will also be judged by an international jury to be in with a chance of representing the UK in the World Style Contest Grand Final, live on stage in Los Angeles in January 2016 infront of 1,500 hairdressers.

UK Freelance Awards

The UK Freelance Awards are arranged by the Freelance Hairdressers’ Association to recognise the work of those stylists not based in salons. Awards are handed out at the Inspire! social event for freelancers in June. Who can enter? Any self-employed hairdresser, beauty therapist or makeup artist in the UK. How do I enter? Just snap and send a shot of your work – no photoshoots required, just a clear photo of work you’re proud of. What is the prize? A trophy, certificate and prestigious title to help promote your work in the press. Where can I get more information? Pivot Point Funk Up Your Head

Funk Up Your Head is an online student hairdressing contest for Pivot Point learners and apprentices. It provides a platform to display and share hairdressing skills - with no rules, whatsoever. The global competition takes place in 17 countries, pitting you against fellow hairdressing students from across the world. Who can enter? Pivot Point students and apprentices. How do I enter? Upload a photo of your most creative work online from 1 March 2015. Two tiers of judging will take place. A panel of judges from each region will choose a first, second and third place winner. A fan favourite will also be chosen. What is the prize? Each region's first-place winner will move into the international round, where the participant will have the chance win $2,500.
