Hairdressers working in care homes in england must be vaccinated, says beis The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has announced that all workers (including hairdressers) in CQC registered care homes in England must be vaccinated against Covid-19. The National Hair and Beauty Federation (NHBF) is working closely with BEIS to ensure that all hair and beauty industry professionals across England are aware of the new Covid-19 regulations affecting those who work in care homes. Coming into place this month from Thursday 11 November, anybody entering a CQC registered care home for work or volunteering purposes must be vaccinated against Covid-19. This applies to all visiting workers, including hairdressers and beauty professionals. The Government's official guidance document says: "We value the incredible work that people in care homes have done over the last 18 months to care for some of the people who are most at risk from COVID-19. We want to ensure that care homes are as safe as possible for the staff working in them and the people they care for. We believe that the best way to do this is to ensure that everyone who can take up the offer of vaccination, does." "Vaccination offers the best protection against the virus both for staff and care home residents. From 11 November 2021, all care home workers, and anyone entering a care home, will need to be fully vaccinated, unless they are exempt under the regulations." Many contractors and volunteers are not aware that the policy also applies to them, so the NHBF are working with colleagues at BEIS and the Department for Health and Social Care to make sure that this new information is communicated to those within the hair and beauty industry who may be affected by the policy. There are some exemptions to the policy, including people who are medically exempt, visitors and people entering for an emergency, and religious leaders meeting somebody at the end of their life.
