alexander mcqueen.jpgalexander mcqueen 6.jpgOn the first day of New York Fashion Week, the devastating news that designer Alexander McQueen has died will send shockwaves through the fashion world. Respected for constantly pushing the boundaries, he was admired for his vision, flair, passion and creativity. Due to show his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week next month, his unexpected demise will deeply sadden all that knew and respected him.

Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck from Toni & Guy, who sponsors London Fashion Week, knew Alexander well. "Although I never worked with Lee (his middle name was Alexander), I knew him through a close personal friend and was lucky enough to go to his last show in Paris in October last year. For me, Alexander McQueen was a  genius, an incredible talent and the very best of British. I was lucky enough to attend a friend's wedding in Italy that Lee was a guest at and it gave me the opportunity of getting to know him on a more personal level - he was a very down-to-earth,  kind, warm person who was always such good fun and great company. It is a tragic loss to the world."

Adam Reed from Percy & Reed, London, a regular behind-the-scenes at fashion shows,  last saw him at Isabella Blow's funeral. "I grew up with him as an inspiration, he is a true icon and like any icon he will never be forgotten. He has made such an important stand in fashion and his legacy will live forever."
