Hairdressers Peter Collinge and Charlie Miller have both been awarded OBEs in the Queen's 2012 New Year Honours List.
Peter Collinge, chairman of Andrew Collinge Hairdressing, joined the industry in 1942 and opened his first salon ten years later.
He established a training programme for stylists in the 1970s, training thousands of budding hairdressers before passing the business over to his son Andrew (managing director) and daughter Sarah (director of training) as well his daughter-in-law, Liz (HR director).
The Liverpool-based salon group now has branches in Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire as well as two successful training salons which serve apprenticeships to more than 100 young stylists each year.

Charlie Miller, whose eponymous salons are spread throughout Edinburgh, has also received an OBE for services to hairdressing.
The group launched in 1965, eventually expanding to five salons throughout the city with an internationally-renowned artistic team headed up by Charlie's eldest son Jason and daughter-in-law India.
Charlie also works closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust, helping to deliver Hair 4 U - a service dedicated to providing real hair wigs to teenage cancer patients.
Congratulations to both Charlie and Peter for their recognition!
