Hairdresser and salon owner Stephen Way has passed way at the age of 85. His wife, TV presenter Gloria Hunniford, announced the death of her husband of more than 20 years yesterday (14 August).
Our thoughts are with Stephen’s family at this sad time and the hairdressing community that knew and loved him.
The industry has come together to show respect for the hairdressing icon, who owned Stephen Way Salon on New Bond Street in Mayfair, London, with tributes being posted to our social media accounts:
@carolynl_chapman commented on HJ’s Instagram post: “Met Stephen a few times in his lovely Bond Street Salon, he had loads of charisma, a talented hairdresser, and was a true gent. Sending love to Gloria and his family.”
@vanessaboland added: “Remembering the incredible journey at Stephen Way on Bond Street. So many talented hairstylists walked through our doors – either as part of our amazing team or learning from the best, Stephen, Sharon, Dale, and Gillian Robinson. Each moment spent there was filled with unforgettable memories and invaluable experiences that have shaped our careers. Thank you for the inspiration and the beautiful moments we shared.”
@stephenmccuskerbespoke commented: “A hairdressing icon and a true gentleman, married to the lady with the most beautiful soul. Met them both a few times and nothing but great memories. RIP.”
