Hairdresser makes hair mural of boris johnson

In a strange turn of events, a hairdresser in Somerset has created a hair mural of prime minister Boris Johnson out of her clients' hair cuttings.

Davinia Fox from Rockwell Green, Somerset, made the 5ft mural of Boris Johnson to say thank you to the prime minister.
She said the pandemic had proved the hairdressing profession is a great career choice and wanted to express her thanks to the prime minister.
Davinia, who has been hairdressing for 26 years, told BBC News that the pandemic showed just how important hairdressers are to the community. In an interview with the BBC, she said: "There's been stigma behind us, where if you're not clever, you become a hairdresser and it's seen to be one of those down graded jobs," she said.

Davinia, who has been hairdressing for 26 years, told BBC News that the pandemic showed just how important hairdressers are to the community. "That has changed as the years have progressed and Covid has definitely helped, now we're essential."

The mural took her 16 hours to create over two days, using the saved hair cuttings of all different colours to create the portrait of Boris Johnson.
"I wanted to give something back. I wanted to show how much people's hair did grow throughout the lockdowns without hairdressers there," she told the BBC. "Obviously, it will be swept up, but I would really love it if Boris Johnson could actually see the photograph of it or if he could come down to see it in person, that would be lovely."

Davinia collected waste hair from the haircuts she did during the short period when businesses could reopen in between lockdowns. "I had well over half a black sack of hair which I very carefully swept up without my clients knowing," she told the BBC. "I wanted to give something back. I wanted to show how much people's hair did grow throughout the lockdowns without hairdressers there."
