There's no better way to make a name for yourself in the hairdressing industry than to enter one of the many competitions, awards or events.

Even if you're not lucky enough to win, the publicity surrounding these events ensure that your name will be promoted throughout the industry, and your work will be seen by some of the biggest names in the business - and could even be published in magazines like HJ.

Here are all the details for the main hairdressing competitions being held in 2012. Keep checking back on the HJi website for all the up-to-the-minute information!

To enter, complete the application form and submit two clear black and white images of your model. Photographs don't have to be professional, as long as they clearly show the hair and represent a modern look with a fashion-focused edge.
What is the prize? There are lots of prizes, but three overall winners will receive an all-expenses paid four-day trip to Los Angeles where they will work on a shoot with American Crew founder and photographer David Raccuglia.
