Colour-Zoom-main-pic.jpgThe fabulous city of Las Vegas proved the perfect setting for Goldwell's Trend Zoom Global Event 2009. Where else in the world could be more fun than the bright lights and truly unique location that is The Strip?

For the 1800 delegates that jetted in for the three day event from around the globe, the main objective was to support their country in the Trend Zoom International live Final - where 27 countries battled it out to win one of the three prestigious categories.

The event took place in the biggest hotel in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand.

There were three categories within the Color Zoom 2009 competition - the Partner Category which was open to Goldwell educators; the Creative Category which required entrants to work with Goldwell's colour ranges Topchic and Colorance; and the Elumen Category which required contestants to work with Goldwell's innovative colour, Elumen.

Colour-Zoom-countries.jpg70 national finalists who had already won the finals in their respected countries battled it out in the live hands-on competition where they had three hours to create their look.

An impressive 95 delegates from the UK attended the event to show their support for the UK finalists - Andy Kyriacou from Lexingtons in Finchley, London, battled it out in the Partner category in what was his third Color Zoom final. Nicola Smith from Vogue International in Leamington Spa, Midlands, was the UK finalist in the Elumen category, and for the Creative Category, Hayley Walters from Burlesque in Newport, Wales, flew the flag.

A panel of highly acclaimed judges from around the world cast their expert eyes over the finalists work, examining their technical expertise, creative flair, and ability to interpret the Goldwell 2009 Color Zoom trends - Ecopolitan and Virtualist. Judges included award winning colourist Mark Leeson and highly acclaimed session stylist Robert Lobetta.

The much anticipated Grand Final was a truly international event with each of the 27 countries in attendance. After a gala dinner and model presentation of the Color Zoom '10 trends, it was time to announce the winners. Denmark was awarded the Elumen category, Creative went to Taiwan and Canada scooped up the Partner Award.

To close the show, the after party moved on to Studio 54 night club where dancing, drinking and partying was on the agenda till the early hours - and for those that could stand the pace the Las Vegas Strip had plenty of star attractions to entertain delegates well into the next day.

This event may have marked the end of the current Color Zoom trends, but it also revealed the Color Zoom '10 trends to the world.

The Just Naked Collection comprised fashionable, wearable hair that is more editorial than previous seasons, which Goldwell says is about reduction and simplification - with clear and organic shapes harmonising perfectly with natural and essential colours.

If Vegas seemed a little too far to travel, then the good news is that the 2010 Color Zoom International Grand Final will be held in the city of love - Paris.

However for the 95 UK delegates that took the 11 hour flight across the Atlantic to the heart of Nevada, it was no doubt time well spent. If the lure of experiencing Las Vegas wasn't enough, the standard of international hairdressing talent was certainly something to write home about.
