With 97 national finalists from 38 countries around the world, all competing to win a place on the Goldwell Color Zoom Creative Team, the competition was fierce in the New Talent, Creative and Partner categories for Goldwell Global Zoom 2017.
Competitors had to recreate their winning national looks in three hours, all of which interpreted the In Flux collection, to be judged by stylists from around the world, including the UK’s Errol Douglas. Following a day of live competition and a showcase of the Goldwell and KMS brands, guests could see global artists including Sam Burnett from Hare & Bone, Shaun Hall of Mark Leeson and Jay Mahmood live on stage.

The evening event began with a parade of nations before the audience was treated to the premiere of the Color Zoom ’18 collection – Elemental. Created by the 2017 winners and Goldwell international artists, the collection is based on fashion trends, and this year translates into beautifully muted pastels and rich earthy colour tones that overlap to combine with cuts that are soft yet jagged. Global creative director, John Moroney announced the winners with Lydia Wolfe from Tony Wood Hairdressing winning the Stylists Favourite Award and Caroline Brand from Oracle Hair & Beauty taking Bronze in the Creative Category.

The three global winners were Maxim Sotnikov from Russia – New Talent, Dylan Tung, Singapore – Creative Category and Mio Sota from the USA winning the Partner Category.
The final day saw a preview of Goldwell’s latest colour innovation @Pure Pigments, a series of high definition direct dye additives that will launch in 2018; the luxury styling products in the KeraSilk Style range together with an insightful look at the KMS campaign for 2018 which takes inspiration from Amsterdam, Melbourne and San Francisco. Kao Salon’s Global President, Cory Couts discussed the importance of social media during an MBE Salon Business Session with journalists from the US, Netherlands, UK and Austria.

The Farewell Party was held in three of Barcelona’s top beach clubs – Carpe Diem, Opium and Shuko with the exciting announcement that Toronto, Canada will be the destination for 2018.
