Goldwell and kms's night of diamond glamour
The stunning surroundings of Kensington Roof Gardens proved to be the perfect venue for 400 hairdressers to party the night away at Goldwell and KMS California's 'Diamond Glamour' summer bash.
Celebrating 60 years of Goldwell and KMS California's Hollywood Glamour campaign, it really was glamour all the way from the champagne that was sipped, to the luxurious canapès and the hairdressing stars' hair masterclass.
On the stage, the Goldwell Ambassadors produced looks relating to the current Trend Zoom trends for 2008 from Goldwell, choosing from Newstalgia (1920's inspired) and Rockmantic (Rock-chic inspired). While the KMS Art Team focused on the Hollywood Glamour theme from the current KMS campaign.
First up the audience were treated to a masterclass in cutting by Beverly C MBE, who presented a gorgeous bob with fringe, along with Paul Scully, owner of Scully Scully and renowned colour expert, Mo Nabbach of M & M Hair Academy and Andy Heasman and Chris Williams from multi-award winning salon group Rush.
Paul created a sexy, soft and feminine Newstalgia inspired bob, with a gorgeous apricot blonde colour to complement it perfectly.
In contrast, Mo Nabbach created a Rockmantic textured crop on his model, using clever colouring to make the hair look like fur - truly Rock and Roll!
And the Rush guys certainly didn't disappoint with their fusion of the two trends, soft colour from Newstalgia and a futuristic disconnected cut with some Rockmantic attitude!
Next up was the KMS UK Art Team to inject some classic Hollywood Glamour, with beautiful looks that just oozed sophistication.
Rising star Amanda Brooke of Hair Associates, inspirational cutter Ross Dilanda from Scully Scully, multi-award winning guru Desmond Murray and afro hair specialist Sandra Webb took to the stage and wowed the audience with their stunning creations.
Finally came an insight into editorial work from British Colour Technician of the Year, Mark Leeson, Shane Bennett, Michael Barnes, Lisa Whiteman of Webster Whiteman.
Mark Leeson worked the Newstalgia trend with a heavenly 'hat-inspired; creation using textured blonde curls to mimic a cotton candy effect.
To continue the Newstalgia theme, Shane created a super-chic look to put any 1920's sliver screen goddess to shame, with glossy curls and feathery hairpieces piled up for luxury texture.
Michael Barnes fused together Rockmantic and added some oriental inspiration for his model's funky hair, which was cute yet rebellious - a great interpretation of the trend. Lisa Whiteman also went all Rockmantic with big texture, lots of hair attitude and stunning colour, as she explained the importance of building your colour business in the salon.
With the education complete, the party developed into full swing with a hilarous set from comedy/dance act 'The Barry Peters Show' followed by music from Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills through to the early hours.
Nick Wood, managing director of Goldwell and KMS said: "This has been a landmark event for us. We wanted to break the rules and set new standards in stunning hair from our inspirational ambassadors linked with the opportunity to have a great party.
"From the amazing feedback we have it seems we have achieved that. I can see this becoming an annual event and the summer party that everyone wants to go to."
