The Golden Globes' red carpet may have been a chic black out fashion-wise, but in the dressing rooms for a few leading ladies it was all about gold.
Celebrity stylists
Adir Abergel and
Bryce Scarlett both used 18k gold stylers to create Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan and Jessica Biel’s award-winning looks. With only six of these ultra-luxe stylers available they can’t be bought but the below looks can be recreated with the ghd Platinum Styler.

HAIR BY: Celebrity Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett
INSPIRATION: “A modern take on a classic Grace Kelly shape.”
TIPS/TECHNIQUE: “To start, I applied serum through Margot’s wet clean hair and then added volumizing mousse at her roots. Next, using the
ghd air hairdryer (£99) and a
ghd oval dressing brush (£20), I blowdried her hair, creating a deep side part that was very smooth, sleek and straight. Once her hair was dry, I sprayed dry shampoo and then texturizing spray from roots to ends, and brushed it out.
Then, I took one-inch sections and created soft waves using the gold 18k styler, angling it vertically for an elongated wave. I styled to the ends of her hair going in the same direction so when I brush them, it would create an even- bodied wave and hug each other for a smoother look. To finish, I went over the ends with the ghd gold 1 8k styler for a nice, extra-sharp finish.”

HAIR BY: Celebrity Hairstylist Adir Abergel
INSPIRATION: “To compliment Jessica’s Dior couture dress, I created a classic look with a modern edge - a luxurious low slung ponytail with a deep side part that was swept off the face.”
TIPS/TECHNIQUE: “To start, I applied a leave-in conditioner to keep the hair soft and smooth. Before blowdrying, I set a deep side part following the arch of the brow for precision.
I dried hair completely smooth, pushing all the hair back, tucking it behind Jessica’s ears. Once the hair was dry, I used the ghd gold 18k styler to smooth out the cuticle and lock in the shiny texture. To finish, I sprayed the hair with a hairspray for hold before securing the ponytail in place. The hair was accented by a black twine wrapping detail. To secure the twine, I started 6 inches below the nape of the neck, which created the faux bob effect in the front."

HAIR BY: Celebrity Hairstylist Adir Abergel
INSPIRATION: “Saoirse’s look was all about creating a beautiful structured updo that celebrated both feminine and masculine details with the construction. The look was slicked back with height, which created masculinity in the front and finished with a fish tail braid that was spun with silver threading. “
TIPS/TECHNIQUE: “To start, I applied a volumizing mousse for extra lift and a heat protectant spray for not only its protection properties but to also add shine. Once the hair was prepped, I set a deep side part and began to blow dry hair with a round brush until completely dry.
I then curled and set the hair using the ghd gold 18k styler which helped give the hair memory and hold. Once the hair cooled, I brushed out the set and began slicking hair back with the side part in place using a texturizing spray. To finish, I tightly secured the hair at the nape and did a fishtail braid. I then turned the braid upwards towards the crown and secured in place. To bring out the femininity in this updo, I gave the braid details by sewing in silver thread.”
