akin-melaine-pic.jpgThe ghd Choose Your Destiny tour celebrated creativity and young talent while launching ghd's brightly coloured limited edition irons to hairdressers around the country.

HJ's 2009 British Hairdresser of the Year and ghd global brand ambassador Akin Konizi took to the stage with two of the new ghd artistic team members: Melanie Pease, of Regis, and Jonathan Andrew, of Cox McMillan, who created inspirational, fashion-forward styles onstage.

Said Akin: "These guys have only been in the ghd team for three weeks, but their work is outstanding."

They created looks with ghd stylers to polish, crimp and curl styles. Akin crafted a directional crop and the others created big, impressive updos with the help of hair pieces and irons combined with clever pinning techniques.

Said Melanie: "I'm creating a big, blonde cloud style with curl and frizz."

model-presentation-pic.jpgAfter completing the styles, Akin returned to the stage with Steve Robinson, of Hensmans Salons, from the ghd artistic team, and Jen Page, ghd academy education manager.

Steve created an impressive sci-fi style updo with sky-scraping height, and Jen added pre-crafted hair pieces and padding for a futuristic yet delicate creation.

The audience were delighted with the show, which ended in a colourful catwalk display complete with heavenly dry ice complementing the light and airy updos and cutting-edge crops.
