Updos don't have to be traditional to make a statement; this sculpted spherical style by Dutch session stylist and Keune global artistic director, Ilham Mestour, makes an impact while maintaing an avant-garde edge.
Perfect for shows, competitions or even the more-adventurous bride or prom guest, this look might have the wow factor but it's not difficult to recreate - simply follow our step-by-step below.

1. Apply mousse to dry hair to avoid the product diluting while adding body and creating the perfect base for the updo.

2. Centre part the hair then create a ponytail in by two parts, sectioning from ear-to-ear.

3. Pull the lower section into a ponytail and secure with elastic.

4. Release the top section and style into a ponytail on top of the first, binding the two together with more elastic.

5. Braid the ponytail, secure, and style into a bun.

6. Create the spherical shapes from hair extensions. Start by crimping the extension to create volume.

7. Now clamp a straightener over the crimping to create a thick texture.

8. Wrap the extensions around a hair donut, smoothing all round and pinning place. Tuck the ends into the donut.

9. Place the sphere over the top of the bun and pin in place.

10. Repeat with more spheres all over the head, working with different sizes and angles to create the overall shape. Ilham suggests using different shades of hair to create more depth to the look.
