The flat-top is an iconic look, which recently made a resurgence on the catwalks thanks to
Sam McKnight's rockabilly take on the trend at the Chanel Autumn/Winter 2014 Couture shows.
With its roots firmly in urban eighties style, the flat-top makes a a poweful fashion statement - but it doesn't have to mean a drastic cut.
In this simple step-by-step, session stylist and Keune global artistic director, Ilham Mestour, shares how to get the look through some clever styling.

1. Apply mousse to dry hair to add body without diluting the product.

2. Section the hair as illustrated.

3. Back-brush the hair in sections, using a soft bristle brush.

4. Crimp the hair in sections to add extra volume and grip.

5. Measure the top section and clip out of the way.

6. Place a centre parting from the crown to the nape, then roll the hair from both sides inwards towards the parting.

7. Pin to secure.

8. Release the remaining section and style into a flat-top shape, pinning in place.
