While some catwalk trends are best left to the models, the Armani mermaid waves that we spied at
the Autumn/Winter 2014 show are the perfect runway to real world look.
A more fashion-forward look for party season than simple curls, this crinkly texture is somewhere between a crimp and a wave. Combining the breezy 70s bohemian trend with pure unabashed romance, it's a style that perfect for black-tie bashes and festive nights out alike.
We spoke to
Michelle Griffin, whose eponymous salon is in Birmingham, to find out how to get the look...
1. Create a centre or slightly off centre parting (dependant on your client's features) and comb through the hair to remove any knots or tangles.
2. Section hair in four large sections and spray with
a heat defence spray.
3. Comb a ten-pence piece size of
styling mousse from the root to tip to add extra hold.
4. Take a set of
one-inch curling tongs and wrap a medium-size section of hair around. Hold for 10- 30 seconds. Once the hair is curled, pin up and leave each srction to cool.
5. Repeat step four on each section of hair until the entire head has been curled.
6. Spray a generous amount of strong hold
hairspray onto the hair and leave hair to cool. Again, this will help the curl last longer.
7. Once all of the hair has cooled, remove pins and brush through your hair with
a bristle dressing brush to create loose waves.
